Be the Calm: Managing Conflict with Confidence and Compassion

Human services professionals encounter conflict on a daily basis, which can create discomfort both personally and professionally. Effective conflict resolution is grounded in empowerment, self-determination and non-judgment. When conflict is managed effectively, human service providers create opportunities for hope, healing, and stronger relationships. This session is for professional counselors, social workers, psychologists, & therapists. Participants will:  Observe how their personal approach to conflict influences their professional approach  Apply new strategies for identifying the values and interests at the root of conflict  Demonstrate more confidence to help clients resolve conflict in their lives  Utilize tools for working productively with court-ordered or resistant clients  Participants will receive a certificate for 5.75 hours continuing education credit.  Lunch and snacks are included. PRESENTERS Corey Hinson, LCSW-A, the Mediation Center’s Program Director and Laura Jeffords, MPA, the Mediaton Center’s Executive Director, will lead this training. Between them, Laura and Corey have more than two decades’ experience as professional mediators and conflict resolution skills trainers. Both are experienced in working with community, family, re-entry, and organizational conflict.    Please e-mail for a special rate for staff of local nonprofits.
