      Native Conifers of Western North Carolina with Jason Rodrigue

      In this program, Jason Rodrigue will discuss the unique characteristics, ecosystem niches, stressors, and current status of the native conifer trees in Western North Carolina. After a short indoor presentation, we will tour the Gardens to identify conifers and discuss them during the walk. Please be prepared for whatever weather that we may encounter while outside.

      Jason Rodrigue holds degrees in Environmental Biology and Resource Management and Forest Soils. He is a forester with the U.S. Forest Service and a silviculturist for the National Forests in N.C. which include the Nantahala, Pisgah, Uwharrie and Croatan National Forests. Jason’s work includes management of forest communities to maintain and improve their health, enhance habitats, restore and protect desired conditions and supply resources to local economies.

      Class limited to 15 participants.

      Cost: Payment required - Participants must pre-register and pre-pay for classes: please call 828-252-5190. Cost for the workshop is $15 for BGA members, $20 for non-members. Proceeds benefit the Gardens.
