Is there hope for the hemlock? Evening Presentation

The invasive hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA) has been devastating hemlocks on the east coast for decades.  New developments in the management of HWA and repeated observed successes are giving land managers renewed hope for hemlocks and the ecosystems they support.

This presentation will focus on the integrated pest management strategies being implemented in North Carolina to control hemlock woolly adelgid. The discussion will highlight recent developments in the biological, chemical, and cultural control of HWA and how they might influence management decisions at the individual homeowner and larger landscape scales.

This presentation is part of a larger workshop that includes Friday and Saturday sessions. See Hemlock Management Workshop for Landowners on Feb 8th for more details. The Friday evening presentation is free and open to the public. Please RSVP to info@savehemlocksnc.org or 828-252-4783.
