      Introduction to QGIS for UVic Libraries' DSC - November 21, 2019

      QGIS is a free and open source desktop Geographical Information Systems (GIS) package. This introductory workshop will cover basic concepts in GIS and QGIS, and will include exercises on loading data, adding style and labels to data, using queries, and making a map in a printable or digital form. This workshop is designed to help students who are new to QGIS to understand and utilize some of the main features of the software. No previous knowledge of GIS or statistics is required. Duration of workshop is 2 hours (may vary depending on previous knowledge and experience) Students must bring their own laptop computers with the latest version of QGIS installed (available at http://www.qgis.org/). Alternatively, students can choose to check out a Macbook Pro with QGIS through the library Music & Media desk. All data will be provided. Note: If you register using this online form your personal information will be retained by Eventbrite, a private company located outside of Canada.
