Oak Bay Secondary School Volunteer Fair -- Wednesday Oct. 23rd 2019

Volunteer Victoria's Oak Bay Secondary School Volunteer Fair Overview Volunteer Victoria is always working hard to bring as many interesting activities as possible to our wonderful members. Working in partnership with school staff, this will be an exciting second annual volunteer fair at Oak Bay Secondary School.  Participating agencies will have a chance to network, meet exciting students that are looking to engage as volunteers, and connect with teaching personnel.  So, please come and connect with high school students today to discover a new level of energy, enthusiasm and a fresh perspective.   The actual fair will run from 9:30AM to 12:30pm (3 hrs). Set up is from 9:00AM to 9:30AM, and take down will be taking place from 12:30pm to 1pm. Fair Location The Fair will be held in the cafeteria of the school.  (Go through the main entrance, down the hall on the first floor just past the Career Centre on the right.) Parking & Drop Off Parking is available in the lot at the end of Goldsmith St. behind the Oak Bay Rec Centre Tennis Bubble.  Load in with a 5 minute time limit at the front loop of the school or from the side parking lot behind the schools stone-gate entrance. Table & Tablecloths Each vendor will be provided with one table and two chairs. Tablecloths are provided for this event. Food and Beverage Light snacks will be provided.  This is our second year at Oak Bay Secondary and we hope to see you there! Is your organization interested in receiving a $5000 Grant? Oak Bay High students will soon be starting an engaging program called YPI (Youth Philanthropy Initiative). YPI is an international program that directs grants to charities while empowering young people to help charities and develop as community leaders. Students are given a hands-on experience of philanthropy that provides them with the skills and awareness to make a positive difference in their community. Within the competition, students research and interview non-profit charities and Teams are then judged on who has created the most compelling and thorough presentation to win a $5000 grant for their charity. (More information about this initiative availabe from school staff.)
