      Friday, Eldredge & Clark, LLP;  First National Bank and UAFS Foundation will host the 2019 Tax Planning Update Seminar for certified public accountants and attorneys on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. Attendees will qualify for 1.5 hours of CLE credits and 1.5 hours of CPE credits in Arkansas.  Lunch will be served from 11:00-11:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 11:30 a.m.  AGENDA Topic: Qualified Opportunity Zones in Practice This presentation will focus on trends and common issues in Qualified Opportunity Zone investment and development, using examples to highlight the QOZ statute and regulations in practice. Speaker: Matthew D. Mitchell Matt concentrates his practice in the areas of banking, corporate and securities, and real estate. Matt represents clients in a wide range of corporate and transactional matters, including entity formation and reorganization, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, and commercial contract drafting and negotiation. In addition, Matt assists clients acquiring, developing, and leasing real estate, and represents financial institutions in a variety of lending and regulatory matters. Proc., required hardship distribution amendments that must be made to 401(k) Plans by the end of this year, the required amendment and restatement of DB Plans by 4/30/20, the upcoming amendment and restatement of DC Plans which likely will happen from May 1, 2021 until April 30, 2023  and if passed the Secure Act (which currently is sitting in the Senate awaiting  a motion to approve unanimously by the Senate which may or may not happen in 2019). Graf Dave concentrates his practice on the design, implementation, maintenance and administration of tax-qualified retirement plans (including defined benefit pension plans, profit-sharing plans, 401(k) plans and ESOPs), nonqualified deferred compensation plans, and welfare benefit plans for financial institutions, regular business organizations, professional corporations, and governmental and non-profit organizations. He assists plan sponsors and fiduciaries with regulatory compliance with ERISA, state and federal tax issues, and with local legislation affecting retirement and welfare plans. In addition, he acts as counsel to plan sponsors, fiduciaries and participants with respect to ERISA controversies and litigation. Speaker: E. Conner McNair Conner joined the firm in 2010 and practices in the Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group. He obtained his Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center where he also obtained a Certificate in Employee Benefits Law reflecting his advanced education in the law of employee benefits.  Conner focuses his practice on advising clients through mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and real estate transactions and providing advice and counsel regarding general corporate and partnership tax matters for small to mid-sized businesses.
