Anstrom- Vocals, Theremin, cello, zils Tony Novak-- Bass, Chapman Stick, Keys, Quintar, accordion, mandolin Mark Christianson- Drums, Artiphon, guitar, wavedrum Kevin Kaiser- Guitars, ebow, plectrum Analog Missionary is a DreamProg band from the Southern USA. Utilizing atypical instrumentation (such as theremin, Chapman Stick, Artiphon and cello) and world-music influences, they have released 3 full-length albums: Transmitter, the soundtrack for the 1920's silent film classic Nosferatu (entitled Voyage of the Demeter), and ARC. The band has developed a vast, multi-layered, cinematic sound that sweeps from grandiose movements of intense power to calmer moments of emotive introspection. Their sound has been characterized as sultry, acoustically complex, sonically textured, and eclectic art-rock. The band's strength is their ability to balance the fragile with the ferocious. Currently they are completing their 4th album and touring the region. “Analog Missionary remains one of the area’s most enigmatic and eclectic musical groups. Their brand of “art-rock” has amazed audiences across the nation, and they continue to tour and record in the process. ” lagniappe "Without question this music nearly completely defies categorization. I suppose you could say that it's alternative rock, but that's such an overused label. This music does challenge all limits and create purely unique soundscapes. This is one of the criteria for progressive rock. Whatever your personal views on the issue, if you want to hear a band that is very different from other groups, but still quite accessible, you need to check out Analog Missionary."
