Bored with your current fitness routine? Lafayette's Pole Fitness Studio is co-ed and an exceptional workout! Originally opened on Doucet Road in January 2012, The Vertical Barre has since relocated to 215 Garfield Street across from Parc International, in growing downtown. Their studio has no mirrors; instead, art - that changes monthly. Their owner, Laci Lopez, says, "We have no mirrors and no judgment. We want you to feel free to be you, whatever that means, and to know that if you can't do something, you simply can't do it yet."

If you read their class descriptions and upcoming events, you'll find everything from Pole to Capoeira, and vegan potlucks to dance nights. They even offer personal training and private parties! The Vertical Barre wants to change your perspective, whether it be by changing a stigma you may be placing on the sport, or by helping you to change your own perspective through their free group meditations every Sunday at 2PM.

Their pole-fitness classes' intensity is often compared to Crossfit or P90X, while their pole-dancing classes are fun and filled with sassy sophistication. All classes are co-ed and beginner friendly, so it's only a matter of which type you want to take. They even offer a Yin yoga based class called, Strength & Stretch, excellent for de-stressing and gaining mobility at any level.

Laci Lopez is the first to bring a studio and concept of this kind to Lafayette. Her natural and infectious zest for life is felt in every class making The Vertical Barre a true gem amongst gyms. She jokingly prides herself "selling weight loss and self-efficacy by the pound."
